The Maroubra Beach is popular with surfers. Sometimes it can be dangerous for swimming because of the high waves: it is recommended to swim only in the permitted area, during the work of rescuers and not alone.
The beach is served by professional rescue teams. In the southern part of the beach there are lagoons suitable for swimming with children.
Maroubra is equipped with showers, changing room, and toilets. The beach has a free outdoor gym, a skate park and a playground, as well as a barbecue area and a small cafe in the center of the beach.
